The Browne Amplification Carbon X Dual Overdrive Effect Pedal is a collaboration between Browne and acclaimed guitarist David Ryan Harris, born from a simple question: "Can this be done?"

The Carbon X is a fusion of two of the legendary blue side found in Browne's Protein Drive, in one pedal. Its enhanced design features a right side stripped of some of its sheen and headroom that unleashes a grittier, raw essence, and a left side with a high cut, so the top end is tamed with surgical precision. The result is a pedal that not only embraces the spirit of the original Bluesbreaker but enhances it, delivering a gorgeous sounding take on a classic overdrive.

Not only do these boosts help to make up the slight gain loss from our favorite buffer but they also provide the option to add a bit more oomph to your signal if you so desire. Set your gain to perfection with your favorite humbucker guitar, then hit the mute switch, grab that vintage strat, boost the gain up to match your high output guitar and play on.

The Fixer

This is a relatively low-gain device, so even with the right-hand knob maxed out you’re not going to fall into a vat of hot fuzz – but as it turns out, you may not even want to push it past halfway. And you may also not want to turn it off: the Carbon can be broadly classed as a transparent overdrive, and it absolutely excels as an always-on enhancer for a clean amp.

The Protein is based around modified versions of two well-respected drive pedal circuits: the ‘Blue’ side is based on a 1990’s Marshall Bluesbreaker but has a tweaked tone control and extra output, while the ‘Green’ side takes its cue from that Nashville session favourite the Nobels ODR-1.

Protein V3 (Pink/White)

The Protein 2 in 1 overdrive is the result of a collaboration between David Brown and guitarist / producer Adam Sniegowski.

Adam came to Dave wanting to create a dual overdrive that would sound great with any backline he encountered.

After years on the road and in the studio using backline amps that could be very inconsistent, he'd had enough.

Adam and David started with 2 drives they loved and stacked well together
