The foul boost is a versatile overdrive pedal designed with several genres in mind. Whether you want to tighten up a high gain amp or push a loud amp into filth, this is your pedal. The foul boost offers 2 gain stages and active eq to dial in your tone. Up front is a low gain op amp stage that fattens the signal and offers a bit of compression. Active HIGH control boosts mids and above while the LOW control is 100Hz boost with a good amount of Q. Finally, the JFET stage gives your signal some harmonic grind and plenty of volume. GAIN control goes from cleanish to cranked amp style gain.

Foul Boost 2.0

The Lifer is a signature pedal for Jon Campos of Primitive Man, and features art from Ethan Lee McCarthy. Inside the box lurks two pedals in one; a Caustic Distortion on one side and a Synth Drone on the other. These 2 circuits run in parallel and independently, but can both be turned off with the Distortion footswitch. The Distortion is designed to retain low end extremely well while preserving the high mids region to cut through any mix. With 2 op amp gain stages, and a JFET stage, the amount of dirt and volume is insane. While Jon’s settings are extreme, we kept the gain sweep wide for versatility and this pedal sounds great on Bass and Guitar. Tone and Mids knobs really let you sculpt your sound, and the Distortion and Drone run on their own volume controls. With 3 voices, and frequency controls for each, the Drone is highly flexible. The Drone voices are then sent through a delay for more chaos, and low fidelity. Turn the volume on the Distortion side all the way down, and the drone can be used as a stand-alone instrument. Manual comes with control cipher.

The Lifer

The BOXCUTTER is a collaboration between Fowl Sounds and Fuzzed Drones. It’s a gnarly square wave fuzz in parallel with a sub octave fuzz. The straight fuzz slams into an HM-2 styled tonestack with a mid-control added that can go from, wooly fuzz to metallic grind; with sustain for days. The octave can toggle between sub-1 and sub-2, and pushes a simple fuzz circuit for some low-end, synth like madness. Using the classic CD4013, we still get some glitch in the octave, but a lot of time was spent getting the octave to track well. Each fuzz has its own volume, and the Boxcutter has a master volume for complete control. The bypass footswitch acts as a master switch for the whole unit, and the octave footswitch turns the octave on/off when the pedal is engaged. Much more than a utility pedal, the BOXCUTTER will have you creating some of the heaviest riffs you’ve ever heard from one box.  

Boxcutter

Based off a modern legend the Sonic Bronchitis is a pedal that clips its own power amp (LM386) to create amp-like distortion. With a JFET pre-amp stage, your signal gets boosted and clipped by the front end of the power amp. After the 386 there is another jfet stage to add some more harmonics and grit. These three stages create tube like overdrive with lots of dynamics, clarity and grind. Depending on your picking style, pick-ups, and gain settings you can go from bluesy overdrive to full blown armageddon. Yet, even at high gain, full chords remain clear and tight. Frequency response is designed for heavily
down-tuned guitars.

Sonic Bronchitis

The charge pump lets the op-amp run with more headroom and allows for more quiet operation. The original RAT is known for a specific frequency response do to the inability of its IC to amplify quickly. Instead of chasing unicorns, the Backstabber uses filtering to emulate the frequency response. We are using a more modern IC which results in RAT-like tones that are tighter and more responsive.

Original signal is run through a highhead overdrive cirucit, Which can be used as a traditional clean blend, or parallel overdrive.
