ARC-3 Audio Routing Controller

In order to achieve our concept of ideal sound, we began by restructuring all of the components in an effects unit based on our expertise and extensive experience cultivated and accumulated over the years, and our innate sense of tone, and ultimately arrived at our Integrated Series which was started as FREE THE TONE’s 15th anniversary project. The first release in this series is a pair of overdrive pedals.

We sought extended dynamic range, brilliant overtones, long sustain, quick but fat tone, and of course, the most important thing, pure and clean overdrive sound. In order to realize all of these things, we thoroughly investigated various electronic circuits and parts and all of the factors related to sound such as magnetic fields and/or resonance. We also employed the best quality materials we could find for the case and knobs. After a few years and many prototypes, we finally completed the STRING SLINGER and FIRE MIST.

SS-1V String Slinger

The FREE THE TONE SC-1 SILKY COMP has succeeded in realizing a natural and smooth sound like a shiny silk cloth by adopting a special soldering process during printed circuit board assembly.

The SC-1 will change the concept of existing compressor pedals. Arpeggios have a flowing, smooth, and natural link between notes, and comping can create sharp grooves. Variations in sound are possible by using the ATTACK control.
The SILKY COMP can be used like a limiter by setting the ATTACK control fully clockwise.

SC-1 Silky Comp

At first glance the PA-1Q series look like digital equalizer effects units but are “analog equalizers.” Including I/O sections, the equalizer circuits through which the guitar/bass signals pass are all fully analog and contour the rich tones of your guitar/bass as analog signals. This is the same signal processing method you will find in graphic equalizers with conventional slider volume controls. The PA-1Q series are analog effects units, but the parameter control section is a digital circuit that can precisely store and process the status of various parameters in the digital domain. This enables real-time parameter control via presets and MIDI.

The FREE THE TONE SOV-2 OVERDRIVE uses a high performance DC-DC converter for its internal power supply circuit and drives its signal circuit by supplying ±15 Vdc, providing natural amplification of guitar sound and characteristics.

The SOV-2 with ample overtones features singing overdrive tone that can express subtle picking nuances as differences in timber.
