What’s Flancher ?

Flancher is a line of 4 different stereo, analog, voltage controlled pedals. They use BBD (bucket brigade device) chips running internally at 15V and are comparable to late 70’s chorus delay studio rack units such as Roland SBF-325 or Boss DM-100.

The FL9 and FL7 are geared towards pitch modulation such as chorus, flanger, vibrato, and quasi-ring mod sounds.

The FL9 uses a 256 stage BBD, while the FL7 uses a 1024 stage BBD. More stages means more delay time, but also more noise.
The FL7 has more delay time available (from 1.5ms to 34ms), but the sound is more filtered. The FL9 has a much smaller range of times (from 0.4ms to 9ms), but can reach ultra-short times that the FL7 cannot.
These differences mean that the FL9 more suited for flanger sounds, while the FL7 is a more natural fit for chorus sounds.

Do you want a phaser with unprecedented control? Do you want beautiful vibrato? How about some gnarly synth sounds with fuzz? Here you go. The Pralines covers all of this… and then some.

∙ At the heart of PRALINES, there’s a special filter which consists of 4 band-pass filters running in parallel.
∙ Each filter frequency can be controlled independently. (FREQ) Resonance however, is a global parameter for all 4 of the filters. (PEAK)
∙ Filters can be blended with the dry signal. (MIX)
∙ Modulation applied to filters frequency can be either envelope, LFO or expression pedal. (MOD)
∙ The LFO speed can be controlled by envelope or expression pedal. (LFO CTRL)
∙ A gated FUZZ helps add to the synth-like experience.

Pralines

Combining two (almost) identical distortion channels that run in parallel with extensive filtering options, Steak from Glou-Glou is a distortion powerhouse. It can be a source of everything from slight fuzz with a bit of filtering to growling and aggressive octave distortion and everything in between.

The parallel channels first are routed to a fuzz circuit that can add everything from soft textures to harsh squared-up fuzz. Then the audio is split and passed into the two parallel distortions. These have their own predistortion band pass filter, distortion circuit, and post-distortion low pass filter. Each filter has its own cutoff frequency, resonance, and modulation depth control. Both distortion sections feature a range of distortion settings from tube-like soft clipping to squared and harsh octave up or down distortion. Distortion 2 has a special ring modulation setting where the two circuits intermodulate each other.

The FL5B and FL5D both use a 4096 stage BBD, but apply it in different ways. The FL5D has a more lo-fi character overall: the tone is more filtered, there are more low-end frequencies, and the feedback is more prone to distortion.
The FL5D starts clipping with a 1V peak-to-peak signal, while the FL5B begins clipping at 2V peak-to-peak.
The FL5B has a range from 12ms to 470ms, with a maximum clean time of 280ms.
The FL5D has a range from 16ms to 630ms, with a maximum clean time of 350ms.
