Jan Ray

The “Butter Machine” was developed in collaboration with Michael Landau to create his ideal distortion pedal. We have made countless prototypes, which took more than 2 years in R&D. Having Michael use the prototypes at his sessions and on tour, we were able to hear his direct feedback and aim straight for his ideal driven tone. In addition, new ideas were implemented, and various improvements were made by testing the prototypes at his recording sessions and at his home studio in Los Angeles as well. As a result, we were able to create a “new type" of distortion pedal that is user-friendly and wide in range. It allows you to control your picking nuance and dynamics, and the drive goes from overdrive to full-on distortion effortlessly. Please enjoy the "Butter Machine”.

Butter Machine

This is a single germanium full range booster, co-produced by famous Grammy Award winning producer-writer-guitarist, John Shanks. Based on the Dallas Rangemaster, used by big names like Brian May, Richie Blackmore, and Tommy Iommi, we put in some tweaks with the advice of John which then added a Sola Sound Tone Bender Professional mkII vibe, which Jimmy Page used in Led Zeppelin, giving Shanks a hybrid characteristic.
For the sound, we used difficult to find vintage hand picked N.O.S condensers. For the power outlet, we use state of the art tech which allows the great tone with a noiseless boost and wide head room.
The Bass knob allows to creat a full range boost.
From a clean sparkle to crunch and for a full boost that can drive like a Tonebender.

The Karen was designed to recreate the tone of the mid 70's early 80's Marshall Amps. Such as the 4 input JMP and the 2 input JCM. A rich and full sound with natural compression without any high-end loss and a thick saturated tone.

The Jan Ray for Mateus Asato is a special model Jan Ray created under the supervision of Mateus Asato. It was brought to capture his ideal tone color without losing the integrity of the original Jan Ray sound. The total gain amount is increased with a slight compression added but still has the head room to it. We added another feature to the brass enclosure, clear coated the casing with the touch of pink for his signature color. "Pink Gold"

The Jan Ray for Mateus Asato will be a limited run of 500 units.
