The Phoenix is a 15-output isolated power supply, utilizing two internal custom wound toroidal transformers to provide the highest noise filtering and cleanest power, giving artists the purest sound in their signal chain possible.

With its four isolated 300mA outputs, the Phoenix has to power to run the larger Strymon units like the BigSky and TimeLine. Three outputs include a toggle option to run 9V or 12V (two outputs) and 9V or 18V (one output) giving life to pedals with unconventional power requirements. The Phoenix fits under most pedal boards such as the PedalTrain PT-2 and up. The Phoenix comes in a durable tour-proof midnight blue texture enclosure.

Das Walrus Audio 385 Overdrive-Pedal betritt völlig neues Gelände, denn als Vorbild unseres Testmodells hat der Hersteller nicht etwa einen Röhrenamp wie den Marshall Plexi, den JCM800 oder einen Fender Tweed auserkoren. Auch Pedal-Legenden wie Tube Screamer oder Klon Zentaur waren nicht im Fokus. Das Vorbild des Walrus 385 ist der Bell & Howell 385. Aha – Bildungslücke in Overdrive-Pedalkunde? Nein, denn der Bell & Howell 385 lässt sich nicht so leicht aufs Board montieren, denn bei diesem Gerät handelt es sich um einen Filmprojektor aus den 1950er Jahren, dessen Ton aus einer Röhrenendstufe schallte. Ungewöhnlich? Nicht wirklich, denn wohl jedes Gerät, das mit Röhren ausgestattet ist und über eine Eingangsbuchse verfügt, wurde im Laufe der Zeit von Gitarristen auf klangliche Tauglichkeit und vor allem Zerrfreundlichkeit überprüft. Walrus Audio hat nun den Klang dieses Filmprojektors in einem kleinen Pedal konserviert.

THIS was the sound and feel Walrus needed to shoot for in an amp-like pedal. The 385 was developed to have the same simple but effective tone control as it’s grandfather. The amp has this as well but bass and treble are stacked behind the single tone knob. With our design breaking them up, we allow for a much wider array of tones to be achieved. The user is able to boost and cut bass and treble, allowing them to be creative with mid-frequency scoops and bumps.

Laut Hersteller ist die analoge Klangerzeugung mit dem Julia-Pedal identisch, hinzugekommen ist der Stereobetrieb, Tap-Tempo mit anwählbaren Notenwerten sowie die Anschlussmöglichkeit eines externen Expression-Pedals. Building off of the lush, tonal landscapes that the Julia Analog Chorus/Vibrato created, Julianna is an all analog, digital LFO, stereo chorus/vibrato with new expanded features. Julianna is able to produce mild smooth chorus, to seasick vibrato, to everywhere in between.

For the Fundamental Series, we challenged ourselves to design a set of pedals with the tonal integrity that’s required to live on a professional’s pedalboard, but with simplified controls friendly enough for even the newest effect pedal users. Each Fundamental pedal has three faders for tweaking the sound and a three-way switch for changing pedal modes. The result is a line of pedals that will keep you covered from your first band practice all the way to a sold-out arena. Designed and assembled at Walrus Audio headquarters in OKC, OK.
