The boost is clean but adding 20dB can overdrive the input to amplifliers or other devices in the signal chain to get pleasing results.
The Baxandall type tone section offers boost or cut to treble and bass and has completely flat response with both controls at noon.

EQ + Boost

The Battering Ram Q2 is basically a Battering Ram V2.6 but with a 3 band parametric EQ in front of it. You can choose to just have EQ, or EQ going into the overdrive, or EQ going into the fuzz, or EQ going into overdrive and fuzz in parallel.
The Battering Ram Q2 works equally well for guitar or bass or anything else you want to plug into it. The EQ section is on when the pedal is turned on. Overdrive + Fuzz means that the overdrive and fuzz channels can work in parallel or separately, each channel receiving the signal from the EQ, working their magic and then mixed back together at the output. The Overdrive channel with it's Gain, Treble and Level controls is switched on via the Overdrive stomp switch while the Fuzz channel has it's own stomp switch and Gain, Tone, and Level controls. The Octave stomp switch changes the fuzz channel into an octave up fuzz.

Battering Ram Q2

Three band overdrive plus clean blend designed specifically for bass.
The signal is split into lo, mid and hi bands and each one has it's own drive knob and overdrive circuitry.
The parallel clean channel has a separate volume control and all four channels are mixed back together at the output with a master volume control. The parallel clean channel also has an effects loop so that you can blend the three overdrive bands with a separate effects pedal instead of a clean signal.

The Battering Ram is an Overdrive + Fuzz pedal which works equally well for guitar or bass or anything else you want to plug into it. Overdrive + Fuzz means that the overdrive and fuzz channels can work in parallel, each channel receiving the instrument signal and mixed together. Version 2.0 of the Battering Ram adds the SPLIT switch which allows either channel to be on separately instead of in parallel.
Stomp on the OVERDRIVE switch and you turn the pedal on and activate the Overdrive channel. It's a smooth overdrive which can go from completely clean to growling distortion.
