Description

A lot of drive pedals have a “Tone” knob. Most of them are just treble cuts. But guitarists know that the key component of a drive tone is actually the MIDS!! I began to wonder why so few drive pedals feature a “Mids” knob. (Actually a lot of Wampler pedals have it). I tried adding a Mid-boost circuit to my Grand Hotel design. The result was a super versatile drive tone! Without adding mids the tone is the original Grand Hotel. The more mids you add you venture into TS808 territory! Finally I used Germanium diodes, what a difference!! It’s possible that all future Grand Hotels will just be like this from now on.
