The sound of this fuzz-pedal is influenced by an old rare and underrated fuzz box from the 1970s, the classic Jordan Boss Tone. The main reason though, why this pedal did not conquer the world of effects back in the day, was due to its massive lack of bass.

Das Auge spielt mit und das KMA Audio Machines Logan ist mit seinem dunkelgrünen Hintergrund und dem wölfischen Schamanen darauf keine Ausnahme. Das Verzerrer-Pedal soll vor allem mit zwei Aspekten punkten: die Reaktivität des Gains bei der Anschlagsdynamik und dem damit verbundene Headroom, der einen offenen, saturierten Sound gewährleisten soll. Bis zu 25 dB soll das Logan durch das Headroom-Design draufpacken können, womit das gute Stück in Preamp-Gefilde vorstößt. Es ist kein rückkopplungsfreudiges High-Gain-Pedal, sondern ein Tone-Shaper und Boost, der sich darauf konzentriert, Mitten und Bässe hervorzuheben. Treble und Bass verstärken den Sound um bis zu 15 dB, eignen sich also hervorragend dazu, bei einem größeren Cabinet ein ordentliches Fundament zu liefern. Die eigentliche Stärke des Logan liegt in der Flexibilität der Mitten – doch dazu später mehr.

Calling a pedal legendary or a cult classic is often stretching the truth, but when it comes to the Boss HM-2 MIJ it’s absolutely on the money. From its beyond brutal and grinding distortion tones, bands like Dismember and Entombed birthed Swedish chainsaw metal. While WURM 2 absolutely nails that death-metal sound, its thick walls of gain and sustain is not all about that genre – the pedal is also adept for so many other styles, from Shoegaze to Prog Rock. To give you an idea, famous players like David Gilmour, Prince, Johnny Marr, Belinda Butcher, Lee Ranaldo, Daron Malakian and more have all made their mark with this style of distortion.

Wurm 2

Just feed SAM a standard 9V or 12V DC outlet (negative-centre pin) from your power supply unit, or a standard power adapter and it will give you one power output with -9V DC and one with 18V DC. Each output delivers up to 100mA, enough to feed several pedals via a daisy chain. By using the 18V DC output, SAM will breathe new life into your favourite drive and distortion pedals capable of handling increased voltages, by greatly improving their dynamics and headroom.  We simply love old fuzz boxes and know all about the – 9V DC power supply problem that can plague some old designs. Hence we felt obligated to solve that with SAM by giving you the possibility to put your vintage fuzz pedal on your board without using an extra power adapter. It will avoid error sources and you can get rid of batteries. Win Win!

KMA Audio Machines brings you the legendary distortion sound from the out of production Boss HM2 MIJ pedal. Its sound was a key element of the Swedish chainsaw metal, invented by Bands like Dismember and Entombed.

Taking the essential ingredients of this classic, while in the process developing a way more flexible metal-distortion pedal, we kept the classic active EQ section and added two more bands, giving a much wider range of tones to tailor your evil and gritty distortion sound. Each band has an internal trim-pot to change the centre frequency and fine-tune your tone. To switch between the original HM2 high control and our own designed WURM mid-band, we added internal DIP switches for even more tonal variations.
