Das Digitech Obscura Altered Delay Pedal gehört zu der Effektgattung, die als essentieller Bestandteil auf den allermeisten Effektboards zu Hause ist und entsprechend zahlreich auch in den unterschiedlichsten Ausführungen im Markt angeboten wird. Während in den letzten Jahren die Anhänger der Analogtechnik wieder vermehrt ihre geliebten Vintage-Delays mit Originaltechnologie finden konnten, versucht die digitale Fraktion, außer mit hoher Signaltreue, Programmierbarkeit und vielen weiteren mehr oder weniger alltagstauglichen Gimmicks, auch mit der möglichst originalgetreuen Nachbildung der legendären analogen Echoeffekte zu punkten.

The Obscura Altered Delay from DigiTech allows you to turn your delays upside down and inside out. The Obscura’s four delay types can be darkened, degraded and distorted on the fly with the stacked Tone and Degrade controls. Combine these controls with the Obscura’s Repeat/Hold feature and lose yourself in long, trippy, gurgling repeats or backwards-manipulated sonic mayhem.

Die sogenannte S-Serie von DigiTech scheut bis heute das Rampenlicht der Pedal-Szenerie. Weder Sammler:innen noch Sound-Kenner:innen scheinen von diesem Thema angetan zu sein. Woran könnte das liegen?
Vielleicht erscheint der Versuch, fremde Pedal-Klassiker zu kopieren, für eine Firma, die sich einst als „America’s Pedal“ etablierte, vielen als zu asiatisch? Oder waren DigiTechs Kopien einfach zu offensichtlich? Schaut man sich das Portfolio dieser Serie an, trifft man auf fünf Zerr-Pedale – und die haben in der Tat nur ein Ziel: Bekannten Klassikern das Wasser abzugraben. Dazu kopierte man nicht nur die Schaltungen, sondern auch – bis auf eine Ausnahme – die Farben der jeweiligen Originale.
