FREE THE TONE's founder and designer, Yuki Hayashi, amassed over 20 years of experience in maintaining and repairing DUMBLE amplifiers and was a proud owner of multiple DUMBLE amps himself. DUMBLE amplifiers are known for their distinctive harmonics, which can make even clean sounds seem slightly distorted. Furthermore, the drive sound of a DUMBLE amp responds to a guitarist's playing as if the amplifier itself possesses intention. It was this desire to capture this unique feel and translate it into a pedal-sized overdrive pedal that sparked the development process.

At first glance the PA-1Q series look like digital equalizer effects units but are “analog equalizers.” Including I/O sections, the equalizer circuits through which the guitar/bass signals pass are all fully analog and contour the rich tones of your guitar/bass as analog signals. This is the same signal processing method you will find in graphic equalizers with conventional slider volume controls. The PA-1Q series are analog effects units, but the parameter control section is a digital circuit that can precisely store and process the status of various parameters in the digital domain. This enables real-time parameter control via presets and MIDI.

The Matt Schofield Signature Model “MS SOV SPECIAL (MS-1V)” discontinued in 2013 has been revived as a standard series pedal “MS SOV (MS-2V)” in response to an overwhelming demand from our customers. To reproduce the sound quality of the discontinued custom series model within the new standard model, we completely reevaluated everything from components to manufacturing process and performed sound adjustment, while keeping the specifications and features such as the HTS Circuit, and ±15 Vdc internal boost. MS-2V MS SOV Overdrive

The FREE THE TONE HB-2 HEAT BLASTER features a modern distortion sound. With the HI CUT and LOW CUT switches, you can create variations in sound.

The HI CUT switch cuts the presence range to create a mellow sound that can still cut through. By turning the TONE knob clockwise with the HI CUT switch activated, a mellow sound that remains clear can be obtained. This is especially suitable for guitar solos.
