Description

The J. Rockett APE (Analog Preamp Experiment) is a pedal designed to recreate the analog preamp design found in vintage tape echo machines like the Echoplex. It’s not just a preamp, but rather the entire analog circuit from input to output, including the sonic influence of the tape heads. The pedal runs at 22.5 volts, just like the original tape echo preamps, and can add warmth and character to your tone. The APE has a simple mission: to make antiseptic digital delay sound enormous and organic. It achieves this by using a series and send/return configuration, enhanced EQ and saturation shaping control, and the ability to add variable gain and distortion to repeated notes. This makes it much more than just a simple one-knob boost in front of your delay.
